Par Scores In Women's T20

Since January 2010, the traditional "Big Four" (Australia, England, India and New Zealand) have played each other 61 times, with 60 results and 1 tied game.

Highest Score 1661
Lowest Score 622
Average Score 119
Average Losing Score 114
Average WINNING Score 126
(1) Australia (v New Zealand, 2011)
(2) India (v Australia, 2011)

All the usual caveats of course apply: there are lies, damned lies and statistics!

Nevertheless, it does suggest that a run-a-ball 120 is round-about a par score amongst the top teams.

  1. Bizarrely England have batted better against Aus/Ind/NZ than the other nations across (all) their T20 matches.

Batting first they have averaged 136.57 against A/I/NZ but 135.14 against the other nations.
Batting second they have averaged 116.32 against A/I/NZ but 102.81 against the other nations - clearly reflecting the fact they have been chasing higher scores against A/I/NZ.

England's overall average score batting first is 135.41 and batting second is 112.51. Combined its 123.05.

  4. By way of stressing the need to separate 1st and 2nd innings scores to get a meaningful view; England highest 6 batting 2nd scores in T20 have been against Aus (5) and NZ (1) - yes the better teams because the better teams tend to produce higher scores to chase. One has to get as low as 131 before encountering an England batting 2nd score that wasn't against Aus/NZ - which was against SA when we successfully chased 128. Against India the most we've chased is only 125 .... tends to underline your proposition elsewhere that the WI are definately in the T20 top 4 now, possibly even top 3 or top 2 and they could well win the T20 world cup in 2014.
